An article dedicated to the simplicity and culture of various food dishes around Europe.
There are few things in this world that excite me more than food.
I could discuss recipes, restaurants, health benefits, and any other food-related topic for hours on end. So naturally, my second blog post must illustrate the wonders of food.
Because I did not have a blog during my three week trip to Europe last summer, I now feel the responsibility to write about some of the memorable meals I enjoyed overseas.
For food-loving individuals like myself, traveling provides the most amazing eating experience because you get to sample traditional meals from cultures different than what you’re used to. All of the authentic meals I’ve had whilst traveling through Europe are so simple, yet so flavorful and delicious.
The prohibition of GMOs, the absence of many processed food-like substances, and the reverence of natural, home-grown ingredients all contribute to why I believe food in Europe is better for the body and the soul than most food in the U.S.A.
The above photo is one the exquisite meals I enjoyed in Europe.
While eating at a fancy restaurant overlooking the Vltava River in Prague, Czech Republic, I ordered salmon with asparagus and a small side of flan. Unfortunately, this meal took place about a year ago, so I can’t remember any of the specific details about the preparation, ingredients, or seasonings of this beautiful dish.
However, I still remember the rich, smoky taste of the salmon and the sweet fluffiness of the flan. The Europeans do not farm their salmon like we do in the U.S., so I’m assuming this difference in preparation impacts the taste. Salmon in Europe definitely has a much stronger and richer flavor, which is amazing for those who love fish as much as I do.

This amazing multi-course meal came from a tiny local restaurant hidden in the hills of Giazza, Italy. After a traditional salami and prosciutto platter with fresh bread as an appetizer, I selected my first course randomly from the menu having no idea what it was. This hidden gem of a restaurant was about as far from touristy as can be, so obviously there was no English on the menu or in the vocabulary of the waitstaff.
The pasta dish shown in the first picture turned out to be one of the best meals I’ve ever had. With a creamy base of green potato gnocchi mixed with strips of smoky ham and topped with endless spirals of delicious cheese, I could not stop raving about this meal.
The second course consisted of a light white fish that was so incredible I couldn’t stop myself from devouring half of it before I could take a picture. Again, I wish I could remember what type of fish it was, but the taste of this meal will forever remain in my memory. And my heart. Man, I love food.♥

Before visiting Poland for the first time, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. You don’t hear much about international tourists flocking to Poland, so I didn’t have very high expectations for this eastern European nation.
But my family and I were pleasantly surprised at how amazing every single meal in Poland was. Who knew Polish food was so amazing? This is a photo of a dessert that my dad and I shared while eating at a Communism themed restaurant in downtown Warsaw.
From the fresh fruits, to the delicate meringue, to the rich layer of raspberry gelatin, this dessert contained exactly the right amount of sweetness. A huge perk of desserts in Europe is that the majority of them are fruit-based, and you can tell that the ingredients are natural.

While this trip to Europe was packed with many other flawless dining experiences, I would have to sit here all night to describe all of them. I’m honestly not exaggerating when I say I have not had a single bad meal in Europe. Being someone who greatly appreciates natural ingredients and simple yet satisfying flavors, I believe eating definitely represents a highlight of traveling.
